While hovering in the air, they were as colorful as a carpet of flowers. Because of that faith in my heart, I was reborn in the heaven of Dau Tat. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. At that time, eighty-four thousand animals were killed by me. They were brought back to the core of the tree and made ready for sacrificial purposes. (Buddha) looks like a gold bar placed at the mouth of a kiln, like burning khadira charcoal , like the rising sun, like the moon on a full moon day. The Fully Enlightened Siddhattha, who had fulfilled all his duties, the benefactor revered by the three worlds, approached and spoke these words: “ Young man, not harming the lives of all living things, and avoiding stealing, fornication, and intoxication make me happy . And the enjoyment of peaceful practice, wide understanding, gratitude, these things should be praised in this world and in another world . Having developed these dhammas, enjoying the benefit of all sentient beings, having made the mind pure in the Buddha, practice the Supreme Path ." Having said this, after having instructed me thus, the All-Knowing, the Most High of the world, the Human Bull, rose into the air and departed. I made the mind pure first, and then made the mind pure. Because of that faith in my heart, I was reborn in the heaven of Dau Tat. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER NIGGUṆḌIPUPPHIYA When a deity dies from the group of gods due to the end of his life span, the rejoicing gods often utter three words that say: “ My friend, from here go to the leisurely state of coexistence with humans. Having a human being, attain supreme faith in the Dharma . May that faith of yours be established, rooted, firmly established in the well-proclaimed Dharma, and unshaken for the rest of your life ." “ Do good deeds with your body, many good deeds with your mouth. Do good deeds with your mind, there is no suffering, no germ of rebirth . After that, do many good deeds that still have the germ of that rebirth by giving. You should also guide other friends into the Dharma, into the holy life .” Because of this compassion, the gods, when they know that the deity is dying, often say joyfully, " Go back to the city of gods again ." At that time, when the assembly of the gods had gathered, there was a wavering in me, saying: " Having passed away from this place, what kind of birth will I go to? ” After learning of my wavering, the recluse, whose senses had been trained, with the intention of helping me, came to see me. The Discourse of (Buddha) Padumuttara named Sumana. At that time, he taught the meaning and Dharma, and shocked me. (Twelfth chant). After listening to his words, I made my mind pure in the Buddha. After paying homage to that wise man, I passed away in that place. Motivated by the element of purity, I was born in that very place. While living in the womb, I was carried by the mother again. After dying from that body, I was reborn in the world of gods. At that time, I didn't notice sadness during that time. After dying from the Dao Loi heaven, I was born in my mother's womb. After coming out of my mother's womb, I knew black and white (karma). Just seven years old from my birth, I entered the monastery of the Blessed One Gotama, the son of the Sakya order. When the Buddha's Speech was spread, when the Dhamma was understood by many people, I saw there the Dharma practitioners, the Guru's bhikkhus. There is a city called Sāvatthī, where King Kosala dwells. The king went to the supreme Bodhi tree in a chariot pulled by elephants. After seeing the king's elephant, I remembered my past karma. I put my hands up and went to the meeting. Only seven years old from the time of birth, I had ordained into the family life. The Sravaka named Ānanda served the Buddha. (As a person) who had perfect conduct, had energy, was mindful, and heard much, while making the mind of the king who was pure and bright, he transmitted (Dharma). After listening to his Dharma, I remembered past karma. While standing in that spot, I attained the status of arahant. After slinging the robe over one shoulder, I put my hands over my head. After paying homage to the Fully Enlightened One, I uttered this verse: I have lifted up the nigguṇḍī flower and have placed it on the lion throne of Buddha Padumuttara, the Lord of men, the Guru. " The Lord of men, the Most High of the world, the Man of the Ox, by which karma I have given up superiority and loss and have attained the status of Immovable ." In twenty-five thousand kalpas, the rulers of the human race (in each life) were groups of eight slaying emperors with long, very long lifespans.[26] Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER SUMANĀVELIYA After coming together, all the people made such a solemn offering to the Blessed One Vessabhū, the worldly Elder. Then I made a lime block with a jasmine flower crown, and I offered it in front of the lion throne. After all the people came together to see the supreme flower (saying): " Who has offered this flower to the supreme Buddha like that? ” Because of that pure faith in my heart, I was born in the realm of Hoa Lac Thien. I enjoy my karma well done by myself in the past. Wherever I go to be reborn, whether I am a celestial or a human being, I am the beloved object of all; this is the fruit of the flower offering. I do not know of any defamation (what) was done by me physically, verbally, or mentally towards the ascetic ascetics who overpowered themselves. Because it has been well practiced and because of the aspirational powers of the mind, I am the object of offerings by all; this is the fruit of not defamation. (Since) I have offered flowers thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. Eleven kalpas ago, a kingslayer named Sahassara was a Wheel-turner, accomplished in the seven kinds of treasures, with great power. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER PUPPHACHATTIYA (While) the World-Honored One, Siddhattha, was thus proclaiming the Truth, helping sentient beings to attain Nirvana. (At that time) I brought a lotus that grows in the water, to my liking. After making the flower canopy, I offered it to the Buddha. The World-Knowing Siddhattha, the recipient of offerings, the Master, standing in the Order of Bhikkhus uttered this verse: " Whoever, after having made his mind pure in Me, holds an umbrella covered with flowers, because that faith is in his mind, he does not go to a place of suffering ." Having said these words, the Fully Enlightened One, the World Leader Siddhattha, dispersed the assembly and flew up into the sky in the sky. When the God of mankind stood up, the white umbrella also rose. The ultimate canopy moves in front of the supreme Buddha. (Since) I have offered up the umbrella ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the flower umbrella. In the 74th life, eight (same) names Jalasikha were the Wheel-turning Kings who attained the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. CHRONICLES OF ELDER SAPARIVĀRACHATTADĀYAKA The One Who Knows the World Padumuttara, who receives offerings, rains down the Dharma, like rainwater pouring down from the sky. I saw the Fully Enlightened One preaching the Immortal status. After calming my mind, I went to my house. I took the adorned parasol, and went to meet the Most High. I became overjoyed, with a rejoicing heart I threw (the parasol) into the air. It is as if a well-directed rickshaw, just as the head of the trained sravakas, (the parasol) has approached the Fully Enlightened One and has stood still on the crown of his head. The Compassionate One, the Compassionate One, the Buddha, the great Leader of the world sat down at the Assembly of Bhikkhus and uttered these verses: “ This pleasingly embellished parasol has been offered by someone who, because of that faith in his heart, does not go to suffering . He will rule the heavenly kingdom among the gods seven times, and will become the Wheel-turning-King thirty-two times . In a hundred thousand kalpas (later), a Master named Gotama from the Okkāka clan will appear in the world . As an heir to that (Buddha)'s Dharma, being orthodox, created from the Dhamma, (he) will know all about all defilements and will Nirvana free of taints ." Understanding the mighty words uttered as the words of the Buddha, with a pure mind, with a joyful mind, I arose in great joy. After giving up my human body, I went to the heavenly race. There is the ultimate pleasing castle that has been born for me. While (me) leaving the palace, a white umbrella was kept (covered me). Then I attained remembrance; this is the fruit of past karma. After dying from the world of gods, I went to my human being. Seven hundred kalpas ago, I became a Wheel-turner thirty-six times. After leaving that body after dying, I went to the city of gods. After the cycle of reincarnation, I returned to human life. While I was giving birth in my mother's womb, there were people holding the white umbrella (covering me). At the age of seven from my birth, I left the home life. The brahmin named Sunanda was well versed in mantras. He took the crystal parasol and made an offering to the Most High Priest of Voices. The great hero, the great preacher, Sāriputta spoke with joy. After listening to his words of rejoicing, I remembered my past karma. I have put my hands together and have made my mind pure. After remembering my past karma, I attained the status of arahant After I got up from my seat, I put my hands over my head. I have offered a multicolored embellished parasol to him. The Sovereign, the great being, took it with two hands. Oh Buddha! Oh Dharma! O achievement of our Guru! Due to the offering of an umbrella, I did not go to the place of suffering. My afflictions have been burned, all existences have been erased. After comprehensive knowledge of all contraband, I live free of contraband. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha.
