CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER KUṆḌADHĀNA At the time when the Lord, the great being, meditated for seven days, with a pure mind, with a joyful mind, I served the supreme Buddha. After knowing the time when the Great Sage Padumuttara had come out of (meditation), I took a large bunch of bananas and approached him. The Blessed One, the World Leader, received that fruit. While making my mind pure, the great sage took advantage of it (that fruit). After using it, the All-Enlightened One, the unsurpassed Sa-fu, sat down in his seat and uttered these verses: " The yaksha communities that live in this mountain, the living beings who live in the forest, please listen to my words. Whoever has served the Buddha, like the lion king of the beasts, I will praise him. People, listen to Me . This person will become the Heavenly King eleven times. And will become the Wheel-turning One thirty-four times. In a hundred thousand kalpas (later), a Master named Gotama, of the lineage, of the Okkāka clan, will appear in the world . This person will rebuke the ascetic whose virtue is no longer corrupt, and will receive the nickname due to the fruition of evil karma. (This person) will become the Guru's Sravaka, the heir to that (Buddha)'s Dhamma, the orthodox, created from the Dhamma, called Kuṇḍadhāna ." Attached to solitude, meditative attainment, meditative delight, I have pleased the Guru and I live free of taints. Surrounded by the foremost Sravakas, accompanied by the Order of Bhikkhus, the Conqueror sat down in the Order of Bhikkhus and told him to draw a draw card. After putting my robe on one shoulder, I bowed down to the World Leader, and in front of the Noble One of the preachers I drew the first (lottery card). By doing so, the Blessed One, who shook the ten thousand (worlds), sat down in the Order of Bhikkhus and established me in the first place. I have the diligence, the ability to carry out duties that are a condition for security from attachments. I maintain my last life in the Dharma of the Fully Enlightened One. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kuṇḍadhāna uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Kuṇḍadhāna is the first part. –OoOoo– 32. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER SĀGATA At that time, I was a brahmin named Sobhita. Accompanied by my disciples, I went to the monastery. At that time, accompanied by the Order of Bhikkhus, the Supreme Being, after stepping out of the monastery gate, stopped. I have seen the trained One, the Fully Enlightened One, accompanied by the trained ones. Having purified my mind, I praised the World Leader saying: “ What kinds of plants are herbs, all of them grow on the earth. Likewise, sentient beings have enlightenment developed within the Conqueror's Dhamma . He was a wise chaplain and a Great Hermit to the masses. He lifted them off the wrong path and told them about the Way . He is the trained one surrounded by the trained, the meditator with those who delight in meditation, the ardent with those of affirmation and serenity like that's it . Adorned by a retinue of merit and wisdom, he shines. His aura radiates like (light) during sunrise .” After seeing (mine)'s purified mind, the great recluse Padumuttara, standing in the Order of Bhikkhus, uttered these verses: “ Whosoever brahmin has aroused joy and has praised me, he will rejoice in the world of the gods for a hundred thousand aeons . Because after passing away from the heaven of Dotā, motivated by the pure factor (that person) will become ordained in the Dhamma of the Blessed One Gotama . Because of that kamma well done, (one) will attain the rank of Arahant, will become the Teacher's Sravaka, and will be named Sāgata. ” After leaving home, I left the bad karma with my body. After getting rid of the bad habit of speech, I made peace in terms of sustenance. While living like this, I became familiar with the essences of fire. After thoroughly knowing about all piracy, I live free of contraband. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The venerable thera Sāgata thus uttered these verses. The record of the elder Sāgata is the second part. –OoOoo– 33. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER MAHĀKACCĀNA The stupa of the Protector Padumuttara is called Paduma. I have built the throne of stone and have gilded. Having raised my jeweled parasol and oxtail fan, I thus offered to the Buddha who is a relative of the world. At that time, even the gods of the earth had all gathered (saying): " He will preach the fruition of the jeweled parasols . And when the Guru is preaching, we will listen to all of it. We can give rise to more delight in the Dharma of the Fully Enlightened One .” Surrounded by the Congregation of Bhikkhus, the Supreme Being, the Self, the great man, having sat down on the golden throne, uttered these verses: “ Whoever this throne made of gold and jewels is offered by, I will praise him. People, listen to Me . He will be the Lord of the Devas who rules over the heavenly kingdom for thirty aeons and will reign over the area around one hundred do-weeks with aura . After going to the human world, (that person) will become a Wheel-turner named Pabhassara and will have outstanding power . Whether it's day or night, the king of kings will shine around eight ratanas (two meters), like the sun has risen . In a hundred thousand kalpas (later), a Master named Gotama, of the lineage, of the Okkāka clan, will appear in the world . After passing away from the heaven of Dout, motivated by the pure factor (that person) will become a relative of the Brahma (Brahmin lineage) by the name of Kaccāna . Later, that person will leave home and will become an Arahant, no longer smuggled. Lord Gotama, the Light Light of the world, will establish himself in the first place . (He) will explain in detail about the question asked in a nutshell. And while explaining that question, (he) will satisfy (the questioner's) mind ." Born noble into a wealthy family, I was a Brahmin well versed in spells. After giving up my possessions and rice, I went forth into the family life. I explain in detail to those who are asking for (ask) in a nutshell. I satisfy the minds of such people, I make the Supreme Being happy. Delighted in me, the Great Hero, the Self-Controlling, the noble person, having sat down in the Order of Bhikkhus, established me in the supreme position. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Mahākaccāna uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Mahākaccāna is the third part. –OoOoo– 34. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER KĀḶUDĀYĪ At that time, Buddha Padumuttara, such an Elder of the world was traveling a long way. Having taken the well-bloomed pink lotus, along with the blue lotus and jasmine flowers, I took the finest rice and offered it to the Guru. The Great Hung has enjoyed the finest rice with excellent food. And He took that flower and showed it to the people. (He said): “ The lotus is the ultimate, precious, lovable, and lovely flower in the world. Whoever has offered this flower to Me has done a very difficult job . Whoever has offered flowers and has offered the finest rice to Me, I will praise him. Please listen to Me. He will rule the Heavenly Kingdom eighteen times. There will be blue lotus, pink lotus, and jasmine flower above him . As a result of this person's achievement of merit, a parasol covering the heavenly scent will be created and will be maintained in the air . (He) will become the Wheel-turning One twenty-five times, and will reign over the five hundred mainland states of the earth. In a hundred thousand kalpas (later), a Master named Gotama, of the lineage, of the Okkāka clan, will appear in the world . Satisfied with one's own karma, motivated by the pure factor, (one) will become a relative, a source of joy to the Sakya clan. Later, motivated by the pure factor, he or she will become a monk. After knowing thoroughly about all the taints, (he) will Nirvana without any contraband . The one who belongs to that world of Gotama will establish the one who has attained the analytical (wisdom) and whose duty has been completed and is free from corruption into the supreme position . Having the affirmation of effort, being peaceful, free from the seed of rebirth, he will become the Guru's Sravaka, (and will be) named Udāyi ." Greed, hatred, delusion, conceit, and slander are all destroyed. After thoroughly knowing about all piracy, I live free of contraband. Being a person of diligence and prudence, I also pleased the Fully Enlightened One. And the All-Enlightened One, delighted, established me in the supreme position. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Kāḷudāyī said these verses thus. The record of the elder Kāḷudāyī is the fourth part. –OoOoo– 35. CHRONICLES OF ELDER MOGHARĀJA At that time, the Fully Enlightened Atthadassī, the Self-Controlling, the undefeatable, walked on the road, accompanied by the Assembly of Bhikkhus. Accompanied by students, I left the house. After going out of that place, I saw the Leader of the World. After paying homage to the Perfectly Enlightened One, I clasped my hands at the top of my head. After pacifying my mind, I praised the World Leader: “ Up to the sentient beings belonging to the material world, formless world, or non-perception, all beings are included in his wisdom . Whoever surrounds the water with a mesh of small holes, whatever creatures are in the water, they are in the net . Beings of the form and formless realms have minds, all of which are included in his wisdom . He saves this world filled with darkness. After listening to His Dharma, they overcame the stream of doubt . The world is covered with ignorance, is overwhelmed by darkness. While His wisdom is shining, the darkness is destroyed . His gaze is the dispelling of the great darkness of all (beings). After listening to His Dhamma, many people attained Nirvana . Having filled the jar with pure honey, I lifted it with both hands and offered it to the Great Hermit. The Great Hero, the Great Hermit received it with his own hands. And after using that (honey), the Omniscient One flew up into the air in the sky. Standing in the air, Guru Atthadass the Taurean, while purifying my mind, uttered these verses: “ Whoever has extolled this wisdom, has praised the supreme Buddha, because of that purity in his heart does not go to the place of suffering . He will rule over the Heavenly Kingdom fourteen times and will rule over eight hundred mainland kingdoms on the earth. Then (he) will become a Wheel-turning One five hundred times and will rule over innumerable lands and states on earth . As a teacher, well versed in mantras, well versed in the three Vedas, (he) will be ordained in the Dhamma of the Blessed One Gotama . (He) will use wisdom to consider the profound and subtle meanings and will become the Guru's Sravaka, whose name is Mogharāja . (He) will achieve the three intelligences, will be the one whose duties have been completed, and will become the one who is no longer corrupt. The great chaplain Gotama will establish (he) in the supreme position .” Having renounced attachment to human beings, having severed the ties to rebirth, having fully known all the taints, I live free of taints. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable thera Mogharāja thus uttered these verses. The record of the elder Mogharāja is the fifth part. –OoOoo– 36. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER ADHIMUTTA When the Protector of the World, the Supreme Being, Atthadass, passed into Nirvana, I saved the Order of Bhikkhus with a pure mind. After inviting the precious Assemblies of upright, samadhi, I made a canopy of sugar cane and served the meal to the supreme Assembly. Wherever I go to be reborn, whether I am a God or a human being, I am superior to all sentient beings; this is the fruit of good karma. Ever since I had offered alms before one thousand and eight hundred kalpas, I no longer knew the realm of suffering; this is the fruit of the sugarcane offering. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Venerable Adhimutta uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Adhimutta is the sixth part. –OoOoo– 37. CHRONICLES OF ELDER LASUṆADĀYAKA At that time, I was already an ascetic not far from the Himalayas. I live on garlic, garlic is my food. I filled my bags and went to the monastery for the Congregation. Overjoyed, I offered garlic bulbs to the Congregation with a rejoicing heart. After offering garlic bulbs to the Congregation who had been delighted in the Dharma of the Supreme Being Vipassī, I was happy in the heavens for one kalpa. Since I have offered garlic bulbs ninety-one kalpas ago, I have no longer known suffering; This is the fruit of the garlic bulbs. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Lasuṇadāyaka[11] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Lasuṇadāyaka is the seventh part. –OoOoo– 38. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER YĀGADĀYAKA When the World Protector Sikhī, the noble among them preaching, passed away, I became rejoicing, and with rejoicing I bowed down to the supreme stupa. Then, after discussing with the carpenters, I offered the financial portion. I became rejoicing, with a rejoicing heart I built the long hall. I have lived among the gods for eight unbroken kalpas. In the remaining lives, I have alternated reincarnation (between heaven and human realm). Poison doesn't get into my body, weapons don't harm me, I don't drown in the water; this is the treasure of the long hall. If I wish for rain, a great cloud would rain down, and even the gods would be under my control; this is the fruit of good karma. I have been (the Wheel-turner) accomplished the seven kinds of jewels thirty times, no one has disparaged me; this is the fruit of good karma. (Since) I made the long hall thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the treasure of the long hall. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Āyāgadāyaka[12] said these verses thus. The record of the elder Āyāgadāyaka is the eighth part. –OoOoo– 39. CHRONICLES OF THE ELDER DHAMMACAKKIKA In front of the World-Honored One Siddhattha's lion throne, I have set up the skillfully crafted Dharma wheel, which has been praised by the intellectuals. With a decent physique, decent military and means of transportation, I was resplendent. Many people are constantly attached to me. There are sixty thousand musicians always at my service, with my resplendent entourage; this is the fruit of good karma. (Since) I have established the wheel (Dharma) ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the Dharma wheel. Eleven kalpas ago, there were eight people rulers with the same name Sahassarāja, who were Wheel-turning Kings of great power. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Dhammacakkika[13] said these verses thus. The record of the elder Dhammacakkika is the ninth part. –OoOoo– 40. CHRONICLES OF ELDER KAPPARUKKHIYA In front of the supreme stupa of the Blessed One Siddhattha, I hung colorful cloths and set up the desired tree. Wherever I go to be reborn, whether I am a God or a human being, there is a brilliant wish-fulfilling tree present at my great door. Me and my entourage are the ones who depend on me, we always take cloth from the tree like that and put it on. Since I established the tree (wish-fulfilling) ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know the state of suffering; this is the fruit of the wish-fulfilling tree. And before in the seventh life, there were eight king-slayers named Suceḷa, who were Wheel-turning Kings who had accomplished the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Elder Kapparukkhiya[14] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Kapparukkhiya is the tenth part. –OoOoo– SUMMARY The Kuṇḍa, the Sāgata, the Kaccāna, the Udāyi, the Mogharāja, the Adhimutta, the garlic offering, the long hall, the Dharma wheel, and the wish-fulfilling tree are the tenth, (total). ) is one thousand two hundred verses.
