APADĀNAPĀḶI & HOLY HOLIDAYS.5. Volume One XIII. SEREYYAKA PRODUCT 121. Chronicles of the Elder Sereyyaka 1767. As an instructor, well versed in mantras, well versed in the three Vedas, while standing in the open air, I saw the World Leader. 1768. The Great Hermit is like a lion roaming in the forest, like a king tiger without fear, like an elephant mātaṅga (come of age) abstinent in three places. 1769. I took the sereyya flower and threw it into the air. Due to the power of the Buddha, (these flowers) gathered everywhere. 1770. The Great Hero, the All-Knowledge, the World Leader made a vow. The flower roofs around were sprinkled on the Taurus. 1771. Then, the veil of that flower, with the inner stalks and outer rims, became a shelter for seven days and then disappeared. 1772. And after seeing that wondrous miracle, I made my mind pure in my faith in the Buddha, the Good One, the World Leader. 1773. Because of that pure faith in my mind, motivated by the element of purity, I did not go to a miserable state in a hundred thousand kalpas. 1774. (Previously) fifteen thousand aeons, twenty-five (same) Cittamālā names were the Wheel-turning Kings with great power. 1775. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The venerable thera Sereyyaka[1] uttered these verses thus. The Chronicles of Elder Sereyyaka is the first part. --ooOoo-- 122. Chronicles of the Elder Pupphathūpiya 1776. Not far from the Himalayas there is a mountain called Kukkuṭa. In the center of that mountain lived a brahmin skilled in mantras. 1777. There are five thousand students who always surround me. They were the ones who (sleep) woke up first (me) and were confident in the spells. 1778. “Our teacher, the Buddha appeared in the world, please know about it. The noble Conqueror has thirty-two good marks and eighty minor marks, whose halo is like the shining sun." 1779. After listening to the words of the disciples, the Brahmin proficient in spells left the hermitage and asked the disciples for directions to the area where the Great Hero the World Leader Live. 1780. I have worshiped that direction (towards) the Conqueror, the one who is unmatched. With an elated mind, with a joyful mind, I honored that Tathagata. 1781. “Come, disciples. We will go and meet the Tathagata. After prostrating at the feet of the Master, we will listen to the Dharma of the Conqueror." 1782. I went away alone and I fell ill. While being tormented by the illness, I went to the foot rest house to rest. 1783. After summoning all the disciples, I asked them about the Tathagata: "What is the virtue of the Protector of the World, the One who has absolute Enlightenment?" 1784. Asked by me, they answered as seen. You have respectfully described that supreme Buddha as he was in front of me. 1785. After listening to their words, I calmed my mind. After making the stupa with flowers, I ended up staying there. 1786. After cremating my body, they went to see the Buddha. They folded their hands and bowed down to the Guru. 1787. After making the flower stupa for the Great Hermit, I did not go to misery for a hundred thousand kalpas. 1788. (Previously) forty-four thousand kalpas, sixteen Kingslayers named Aggisama were the Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 1789. (Previously) twenty thousand kalpas, thirty-eight lords (with the same name) Ghatāsana were the Wheel-turners. 1790. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Pupphathūpiya[2] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Pupphathūpiya is the second part. --ooOoo-- 123. Chronicles of the Elder Pāyāsadāyaka 1791. (I have seen) the Perfectly Enlightened one with dazzling yellow skin, There were thirty-two good generals leading the Assembly of Bhikkhus coming out of the vast forest. 1792. Wishing to make an offering, I prepared milk rice in a very precious metal plate and gave it to the able. 1793. At that time, the World-Honored One, the World's Most High, the Human Niu, skillfully stepped onto the walking path in the sky above the air. 1794. And after seeing that wondrous miracle that made my hairs flutter, after putting down the metal plate I bowed down to (Buddha) Vipassī. 1795. “The All-Knowing One, You are the God who resides in (the world includes) gods and humans. White Great sage, out of compassion, please accept it." 1796. Knowing my intention, the World-Honored One, the All-Knowing, the World Leader, the Guru, the Great Wise in the world received it. 1797. Since I made almsgiving ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the milk rice dish. 1798. In the past forty-one lifetimes, I was a king-slayer named Buddha, the one who turned the wheel of kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1799. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Payāsadāyaka[3] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Payāsadāyaka is the third part. --ooOoo-- 124. Chronicles of the Elder Gandhodakiya 1800. After sitting down in the lofty place of the castle, I saw the Conqueror Vipassī, the All-Knowing, the destroyer of darkness, as if the kakudha tree is shining. 1801. The Leader of the World (was) walking not far from the castle. His radiance radiated like the light of the sun. 1802. And I took the scented water and sprinkled it on the supreme Buddha. With that faith in my heart, I ended up living there. 1803. (Since) I sprinkled fragrant water ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 1804. Thirty-one kalpas ago, (I was) a king-slayer named Sugandha, a Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1805. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Gandhodakiya uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Gandhodakiya is the fourth part. --ooOoo-- 125. Chronicles of Elder Sammukhāthavika 1806. While reassuring the people, I explained about the omens when the Vipass was giving birth: “The Buddha will appear in the world. 1807. And whoever was at the birth of ten thousand worlds was shaken, that person is now the World Honored One, the Teacher, the One with the Eyes (who is) preaching the Dharma. 1808. And whoever was born with a source of immense light, he is now the World Honored One, the Teacher, the One with the Eyes (who is) preaching the Dharma. 1809. And whoever gave birth to rivers that stopped flowing, he is now the World-Honored One, the Teacher, the One with the Eyes (who is) preaching the Dharma. 1810. And whoever was born in Avīci hell did not burn, that person is now the Blessed One, the Teacher, the One who preaches the Dharma. 1811. And whoever did not fly while giving birth, he is now the World-Honored One, the Master, the One with the Right Eye (is) preaching the Dharma. 1812. And whoever gives birth when the wind stops blowing, that person is now the World-Honored One, the Teacher, the One with the Eyes (who is) preaching the Dharma. 1813. And whoever, while giving birth, all the jewels were glowing, that person is now the Blessed One, the Teacher, the One with the Eyes (who is) preaching the Dharma. 1814. And whoever had taken seven steps at birth, he is now the World-Honored One, the Teacher, the One who preaches the Dharma. 1815. And as soon as he was born, the Perfectly Enlightened One shone in all directions, he uttered majestic words; this is the custom of the buddhas.” 1816. After moving the people, I praised the Leader of the World. After paying homage to the Fully Enlightened One, I left, facing east. 1817. (Since) I have praised the Buddha ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of praise. 1818. 90 kalpas ago, (I was) a person named Sammukhāthavika, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1819. In the past 89 lives, (I was) a person named Paṭhavidundubhī, who is a Wheel-turning King who has achieved seven kinds of treasures and has great power. 1920. In the past 88 kalpas, (I was) a king-slayer named Obhāsa, who is a Wheel-turning-King who has achieved seven kinds of treasures and has great power. 1821. 87 kalpas ago, (I was) a person named Saritacchedana, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1822. In the past 86 lives, (I was) the name Agginibbāpana, the Wheel-turning King achieved seven kinds of treasures, having great power. 1823. Eighty-five kalpas ago, (I was) a man named Gatipacchedana, a Wheel-turner, accomplished in the seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1824. In the past 84 lives, (I was) a king named Vātasama, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1825. 83 kalpas ago, (I was) a person named Ratanapajjala, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1826. In the past 82 kalpas, (I was) a person named Padavikkamana, who is a Wheel-turning-King who has attained seven kinds of treasures and has great power. 1827. 81 kalpas ago, (I was) a king named Vilokana, a Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1828. Eighty eons ago, (I was) a king-slayer named Girisāra, who turned the wheel of the King, accomplished seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1829. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―(as above)― I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Sammukhāthavika[4] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Sammukhāthavika is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 126. Chronicles of Elder Kusumāsaniya 1830. I was a Brahmin in Dhaññavatī city in terms of appearance, tradition including writing and ritual. 1831. Being a master of the three Vedas, I was well-versed in omens, words, and grammar, and I taught students about spells. 1832. Wanting to make an offering while reuniting with my parents, I placed five bunches of green lotuses on a small chair. 1833. At that time, the World Honored One Vipassī, the human being, led the Sangha of Bhikkhus to come, while making all directions glow. 1834. After arranging the seats, I invited the Great Sage. After spreading out the flower(s), I brought (the Buddha) to my house. 1835. Having gained faith, I personally offered to the Buddha the food that was already in my house. 1836. Knowing when he had finished his meal, I offered a bouquet of flowers. The All-Knowing One, having spoken joyfully, had gone, facing north. 1837. Ever since I had offered flowers ninety-one kalpas ago, I have no longer known suffering; this is the fruit of the flower offering. 1838. In the previous life, I was King Varadassana, the Wheel-turning King, accomplished in the seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1839. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―(as above)― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kusumāsaniya[5] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Kusumāsaniya is the sixth part. --ooOoo-- 127. The Chronicles of the Elder Phaladāyaka 1840. As an instructor, well versed in mantras, well versed in the three Vedas, I lived in a hermitage not far from the Himalayas. 1841. I have offerings to the fire, white lotus flowers and fruit. After putting it in the basket, I hung it up at the top of the tree. 1842. The Knower of the World Padumuttara, the recipient of offerings, intended to help me, and while begging for food, he approached me. 1843. With pure faith, with joy in mind, I offered fruit to the Buddha. I have been a source of happiness, a source of happiness in the present time for myself. 1844. The Fully Enlightened One has a bright yellow skin color, the recipient of the offerings, standing in the air said this verse: 1845. "Due to this fruit offering and due to the vows of the intention, (this person) does not go to a miserable state in a hundred thousand kalpas.” 1846. Thanks to that pure factor, I have enjoyed success. After giving up the odds, I attained Immovable status. 1847. Seven hundred kalpas ago, I was the king of Sumaṅgala, the Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1848. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―(as above)― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable thera Phaladāyaka[6] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Phaladāyaka is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 128. Chronicles of the Elder Ñāṇasaññaka 1849. I lived in the hills in the Himalayas. After seeing the shining sand, I remembered the supreme Buddha, saying: 1850. “In wisdom, there is nothing to compare, nothing to rival the Master. After knowing all the dharmas, He was liberated through wisdom. 1851. White Superman, I salute you! O Supreme Being, I salute Thee! There is no equal to His wisdom even the first-class wisdom." 1852. After making my mind pure in wisdom (the Buddha), I was happy in heaven for a lifetime. In the remaining lives, good things have been done by me. 1853. Ever since I attained that contemplation ninety-one aeons ago, I have known no suffering; this is the fruit of intellectual contemplation. 1854. Seventy-three kalpas ago, (I was) the only person named Pulinapupphiya, the Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1855. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Ñāṇasaññaka[7] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Ñāṇasaññaka is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 129. Chronicles of the Elder Gandhapupphiya 1856. The Fully Enlightened Vipassī with bright yellow skin, worthy of offerings, leading the Disciples, left the monastery. 1857. After seeing the supreme Buddha, the All-Knowledge, the one who destroys darkness, with a pure mind, with a joyful mind, I offered a fragrant flower. 1858. Because of such faith in my heart towards the Lord of men, I became rejoicing, with a joyful heart I bowed down to the Tathagata again. 1859. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 1860. In the past forty-one kalpas ago, (I was) a king-slayer named Caraṇa, a Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1861. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Gandhapupphiya [8] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Gandhapupphiya is the ninth part. --ooOoo-- 130. Chronicles of the Elder Padumapūjaka 1862. Not far from the Himalayas there is a mountain named Gotama covered with various trees, the residence of great groups of beings. Grand. 1863. And a hermitage was created in the center of that mountain. Surrounded by my students, I lived in a hermitage. 1864. “Hey, groups of my disciples, bring me the pink lotus. That is how we will make offerings to the Buddha, the Lord of mankind.” 1865. They replied, "Yes," and brought me a pink lotus. At that place, after determining the object, I offered it to the Buddha. 1866. At that time, I gathered the disciples together and gave a good teaching: "Do not be distracted, not to be distracted is the source of peace." 1867. Having given such instruction to students who accepted that teaching, attached to the virtue of non-distraction, I then passed away. 1868. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 1869. (Formerly) 51 kalpas, I was King Jaluttama, the Wheel-turning King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. xxxx. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Elder Padumapūjaka[9] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Padumapūjaka is the tenth part. --ooOoo-- Sereyyaka Taste Summary, taste of flower stupa, taste (offering) of rice and milk, taste (spray) of fragrant water, taste of praise, taste of a seat, taste (offering) of fruit, taste of contemplation, a fragrant flower , taste pink lotus; (total) 105 verses were reported by those who saw the benefit. The Sereyyaka Chapter is the thirteenth chapter. --ooOoo-- XIV. SOBHITA PRODUCTS 131. Chronicles of Elder Sobhita 1870. The Conqueror named Padumuttara, the world's Chief Elder, the Human Niu preached the Immortal status to a large group of people. 1871. After listening to His words, I burst into words. Then I put my hands together and was attentive. 1872. “Just as the sea is foremost among the waters, so the Neru Rocks are noble among the mountains, Likewise, those who exercise the power of their mind do not attain a part of the Buddha's wisdom." 1873. Having prescribed the way in the Dhamma, the Buddha, the Compassionate, the Hermit, sat down at the Assembly of Bhikkhus and uttered these verses: 1874. "Who has praised wisdom about the Buddha, the World Leader, he will not go to a miserable state for a hundred thousand kalpas. 1875. (He) will burn away the afflictions, be attentive, well concentrated, will become the Guru's Discourse, with the name Sobhita." 1876. (Previously) fifty thousand kalpas, seven (same) names as Yasuggata were the Universal Kings who accomplished seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1877. My afflictions have been burned away, all beings have been erased, the three wisdoms have been achieved, I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. 1878. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Sobhita said these verses like that. The record of the elder Sobhita is the first part. --ooOoo-- 132. Chronicles of Elder Sudassana 1879. At the river Vitatthā, the pilakkha tree was bearing fruit. While searching for that plant, I saw the Leader of the World. 1880. After seeing the ketaka tree in full bloom, I then cut the flower stalk and offered it to Buddha Sikhī, the relative of the world. 1881. "Venerable Buddha, great sage, with what wisdom you have attained the status of immortality, I offer that wisdom." 1882. After offering wisdom, I saw the pilakkha tree, I attained that wisdom; this is the fruit of the offering of wisdom. 1883. (Since) I offered the flower thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of wisdom. 1884. Thirteen kalpas ago, twelve (same) Phaluggatas were the Wheel-turning Kings who accomplished seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 1885. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Sudassana said these verses like that. The record of the elder Sudassana is the second part. --ooOoo-- 133. Chronicles of the Elder Candanapūjaka 1886. At that time, I was a golden-soldier-bird on the banks of the Candabhāgā river. And I had the food of the flower, likewise there was the dress of the flower. 1887. And the World-Honored One Atthadassī, the world's Chief Elder, the Human Bull, went out above the top of the forest, like a king swan in the sky. 1888. “Superman, I salute Thee! His mind is skillfully purified. He has a calm face and eyes, a clear face and senses.” 1889. The wise person with immense wisdom came down from the sky. He spread out his double robe and sat down in the full lotus position. 1890. I took the dissolved frankincense and went near the Conqueror. With pure faith, with joy in mind, I offered it to the Buddha. 1891. After paying homage to the Perfectly Enlightened One, the Chief Elder of the world, the Human Niu, after giving rise to excitement, I left, facing the north. 1892. (Since) I have offered incense (before) one thousand eight hundred kalpas, I no longer know the suffering scene; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 1893. Formerly one thousand four hundred kalpas, Those three (with the same name) Rohita were already mighty Kings of Wheels. 1894. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Candanapūjaka [10] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Candanapūjaka is the third part. (Eighth chant). --ooOoo-- 134. Chronicles of Elder Pupphachadaniya 1895. As a teacher, attached to the dedication, a Brahmin proficient in spells named Sunanda made offerings to the dedication ceremony. 1896. At that time, Padumuttara, the One who knew the world, the Great One, the Compassionate One, the Hermit, while thinking about the people, was walking in the air. 1897. After walking, the Perfectly Enlightened One, the All-Knowing, the World Leader, who had no seeds of rebirth, spread his loving kindness to all sentient beings in an unlimited way. 1898. Having cut the flowers at the stalks, the brahmin, proficient in spells, summoned all his disciples and threw them into the air. 1899. At that time, by the power of the Buddha, the canopy of flowers spread over the whole city and did not disappear for seven days. 1900. Due to that pure factor, I have enjoyed success. After thoroughly knowing all the defilements, I have overcome worldly attachment. 1901. (Formerly) 1,100 kalpas, thirty-five king-slayers with the (same) name Ambaraṃsa were the Wheel-turning Kings of great power. xxxx. Four analytical (wisdom), ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. Venerable Venerable Pupphachadaniya[11] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Pupphachadaniya is the fourth part. --ooOoo-- 135. Chronicles of Elder Rahosaññaka 1902. Not far from the Himalayas there is a mountain called Vasabha. At the foot of that mountain a hermitage has been established. 1903. At that time, as a Brahmin, I taught three thousand students. After summoning those disciples, I sat down to one side. 1904. After sitting down to one side, as a Brahmin well versed in mantras, while in search of the Buddha's understanding, I made my mind pure in wisdom (His) . 1905. There, after making my mind pure, I sat down on a carpet of leaves. After being placed in the full lotus position, I ended up living there. 1906. Since I attained that contemplation thirty-one kalpas ago, I have known no suffering; this is the fruit of intellectual contemplation. 1907. (Formerly) twenty-seven lives, I was king Siridhara, is a Wheel-turning King who has accomplished seven kinds of treasures and has great power. 1908. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Rahosaññaka[12] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Rahosaññaka is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 136. Chronicles of the Elder Campakapupphiya 1909. (The Buddha) sat in the hills like a burning kaṇikāra tree, causing all directions to glow like an osadhī star. 1910. Three well-educated young men of their profession took up the bag of supplies and followed me behind. 1911. Seven flowers fell in the basket because of the heat. I have taken those flowers and have offered (directed mind to) the wisdom of Vessabhū. 1912. (Since) I have offered the flower thirty-one lifetimes ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of wisdom. 1913. Twenty-nine kalpas ago, (I was) a person named Vipulābha, who was a Wheel-turning-King who had attained seven kinds of treasures and had great power. 1914. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Campakapupphiya[13] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Campakapupphiya is the sixth part. --ooOoo-- 137. Chronicles of Elder Atthasandassaka 1915. I saw the Leader of the World, one who had contraband or had been terminated, who had attained power, sitting in a large, surrounded forest. surrounded by the Order of Bhikkhus. 1916. "One hundred thousand people with three intelligences, six winning positions, with great divine power surrounding the Perfectly Enlightened One, who is the one who sees but does not have faith? 1917. In (the world) including the gods, whose intellectual equivalent is not found, Who sees the Perfectly Enlightened One with boundless wisdom but does not have faith? 1918. And one cannot harm the Dharmakaya that is illuminating (like) the entire pearl mine, who sees (Him) without faith?" 1919. With these three verses, the Nārada Saragacchiya praised the undefeated Padumuttara the Fully Enlightened One. 1920. Because of that faith in my heart and due to the praise of the Buddha, I did not go to suffering in a hundred thousand kalpas. 1921. Three thousand kalpas ago, (I was) the king-slayer named Sumitta, the Wheel-turning-King achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1922. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Venerable Atthasandassaka[14] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Atthasandassaka is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 138. Chronicles of the Elder Ekapasādaniya 1923. My name is Nārada, everyone knows me as (lineage) Kesava. While learning about the good and the bad, I came close to the Buddha. 1924. While consoling sentient beings, the Great Sage Atthadassī, the Compassionate One with loving-kindness, the Right Eye preached the Dharma. 1925. Having made my mind pure, I clasped my hands at the head. After paying homage to the Guru, I departed, facing east. 1926. (Formerly) one thousand seven hundred kalpas, I was the king, the lord of the earth, the Wheel-turning King named Amittatāpana with great power. 1927. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Ekapasādaniya[15] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Ekapasādaniya is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 139. Chronicles of the Elder Sālapupphadāyaka 1928. At that time, I was already the king of beasts, the noble born lion. While searching for the treacherous spot in the mountain, I saw the Leader of the World. 1929. “This must be the Great Hung, who helped the masses of people to attain (liberation) Nirvana. Or should I serve the God of the Gods, the Man and the Bull?" 1930. After breaking the branch of the sālā tree, I brought back the flower with its covering. I have come close to the Perfectly Enlightened One and have offered the supreme flower. 1931. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the flower offering. 1932. And before in the ninth incarnation, three kings named Virocana were Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 1933. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. At that time, I was a butcher, a murderer of other lives. I slept on the side of a mountain not far from the Sikh Guru. 1935. I saw the Buddha, the great Leader of the world, at night and by day. But I do not have anything worthy of offering to the Sovereign of men. 1936. I took the piyāla fruit and went near the Buddha. The World-Honored One, the World-Honored One, the Human Niu, received it. 1937. Since then I have served the Scout. With that faith in my heart, I ended up living there. 1938. (Since) I have made a fruit offering thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the fruit offering. 1939. Fifteen eons ago, the three (names) Piyālī were the Kings of the Wheels who had accomplished seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 1940. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable thera Piyālaphaladāyaka[17] thus uttered these verses. The record of the elder Piyālaphaladāyaka is the tenth part. --ooOoo-- Summary of Sobhita, Sudassana, (offering) frankincense, (offering) covered with flowers, contemplation of solitude, campaka flower, along with taste only teaching about the purpose, the one who has one time of faith, the one who offers the flower sālā, and the one who offers the fruit, the tenth; (total) there are seventy-two verses counted by the wise. The Sobhita is the fourteenth chapter. --ooOoo-- XV. PRODUCT CHATTA 141. Chronicles of Elder Atichattiya 1941. When the World-Honored One, the Supreme Being, Atthadass passed away, Nirvana, I had a parasol made at the top and raised it at the stupa. 1942. I have gone to and paid homage to the Guru's stupa many times. I made a flower canopy and I placed it above the canopy. 1943. I ruled the Kingdom of Heaven (before) one thousand seven hundred lifetimes, I did not go to the human being; this is the fruit of making offerings to the stupa. 1944. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Atichattiya[18] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Atichattiya is the first part. --ooOoo-- 142. Chronicles of the Elder Thambhāropaka 1945. When the Protector of the World, the Human Bull, Dhammadassī entered Nirvana, I have erected a flagpole at the stupa of the supreme Buddha. 1946. After creating the stairs, I ascended to the supreme stupa. I took the jasmine flower and offered it at the stupa. 1947. Oh Buddha! Oh Dharma! O achievement of our Guru! I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the stupa. 1948. Ninety-four kalpas ago, sixteen kings (with the same name) Thūpasikkhara were the Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 1949. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable thera Thambhāropaka[19] said these verses like that. The record of the elder Thambhāropaka is the second part. --ooOoo-- 143. Chronicles of Elder Vedikāraka 1950. When the World Protector of the Supreme Being Piyadassī entered Nirvana, with pure faith, With joy I made the pearl hedge. 1951. After sprinkling it with manifold gems, I made the perfect hedge. After performing the festival at the fence, I ended up staying there. 1952. Wherever I go to be reborn, whether I am a celestial or a human being, there are people who hold mani pearls in the air; this is the fruit of good karma. 1953. Before one thousand six hundred kalpas, thirty-two kings (with the same name) Maṇippabhā were the Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 1954. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Vedikāraka[20] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Vedikāraka is the third part. --ooOoo-- 144. Chronicles of the Elder Saparivāriya 1955. The Conqueror named Padumuttara, the World Elder, The Human Niu, the Fully Enlightened One, after burning like a mass of fire, passed away Nirvana. 1956. And when the Great Hero entered Nirvana, there was a spacious stupa. People are on duty day and night in the supreme noble sharra. 1957. With pure faith, with joy in mind, I made a barricade made of agarwood. And then, smoke matching the stupa was seen. 1958. While being reborn in the realm of existence, whether in the divine or human nature, I do not see that I have inferiority; this is the fruit of good karma. 1959. Fifteen kalpas ago, there were eight (kings), all of whom had (same) the name Samatta, who were wheel-turners with great power. 1960. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Saparivāriya[21] uttered these verses thus. When the World Honored One Siddhattha, the Protector of the World, the recipient of the offerings passed Nirvana, there was a festival at the great stupa. 1962. While the festival for the Great Hermit Siddhattha was underway, I took the ummā flower and presented it to the stupa. 1963. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the stupa. 1964. And before in the ninth life, eighty-five (same) kings named Somadeva were the mighty Kings of Wheels. 1965. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Ummāpupphiya[22] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Ummāpupphiya is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 146. Chronicles of Elder Anulepadāyaka 1966. I made a barrier at the Bodhi tree of the Wise One Anomadassī. I have offered lime blocks and have done the plastering work. 1967. After seeing this skillfully performed action, the Supreme Being, Anomadassī, the Master, standing in the Order of Bhikkhus uttered these verses: 1968. “Due to this work of lime powder. and through the aspirational forces of volition (this person) will enjoy attainment and will end suffering." 1969. I have a calm face, attentive, well-composed. I maintain my last life in the Dharma of the Fully Enlightened One. 1970. In the past, having completed a hundred kalpas without a shortage, (I was) a king named Sabbaghana, who is a Wheel-turning King with great power. 1971. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Anulepadāyaka[23] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Anulepadāyaka is the sixth part. --ooOoo-- 147. Chronicles of Elder Maggadāyaka 1972. The Right Eye crossed a small river and entered the forest. I have seen the Fully Enlightened Siddhattha with these thirty-two marks. 1973. I took the shovel and the basket and leveled the road. I have bowed down to the Guru and have purified my mind. 1974. Since I had done that ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of the path. 1975. (Formerly) fifty-seven lives, I was the sole ruler of the people with the name Suppabuddha; That leader is the lord of mankind. 1976. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Maggadāyaka uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Maggadāyaka is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 148. Chronicles of Elder Phalakadāyaka 1977. In the past, I was a skilled boat builder who was well trained in carpentry. I made a plank of agarwood and made an offering to the relative of the world. 1978. This well-rendered golden palace shines. The means of transport by elephants, vehicles of horses, vehicles of heaven are available. 1979. The castles and the palanquins were born as desired, my treasures were not impaired; this is the fruit of the wooden plank. 1980. (Since) I gave the wooden plank ninety-one lifetimes ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the wooden plank. 1981. Fifty-seven kalpas ago, four (with the same) name Nimmita were Wheel-turning Kings who attained the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1982. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The venerable thera Phalakadāyaka uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Phalakadāyaka is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 149. Chronicles of Venerable Vaṭaṃsakiya 1983. The undefeated Self-Controller named Sumedha, while practicing solitude, went deep into the great forest. 1984. After seeing the salala tree in full bloom, I tied it into a garland for my head. I offered it to the Buddha by placing it in front of the World Leader. 1985. (Since) I gave the flower thirty thousand lifetimes ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 1986. (Previously) one thousand nine hundred kalpas, sixteen (same) Nimmita were the Wheel-turning Kings who had accomplished the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 1987. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Vaṭaṃsakiya[24] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Vaṭaṃsakiya is the ninth part. --ooOoo-- 150. Chronicles of the Elder Pallaṅkadāyaka 1988. I offered such an armchair with a roof over it to the Blessed One Sumedha, such an Elder of the world. 1989. At that time, that armchair full of seven kinds of jewels always arose for me, exactly according to my intention. 1990. Since I offered the armchair thirty thousand aeons ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the armchair. 1991. (Previously) twenty thousand kalpas, three people (with the same name) Suvaṇṇābha (was) the Wheel-turning Kings achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 1992. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning wisdom were (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Pallaṅkadāyaka[25] uttered these verses like that. The Chatta Chapter is the fifteenth chapter. --ooOoo-- XVI. BANDHUJĪVAKA PRODUCTS 151. Chronicles of the Elder Bandhujīvaka 1993. (I have seen the Blessed One Sikhī) is like the moon, free from filth, pure, clean, undisturbed, having abandoned the joy of existence, having overcome attachment to the world. 1994. As one who has passed, noble among those who are in transition, he is helping people to achieve Nirvana. He was meditating in the forest, attentive, very calm. 1995. After tying the bandhujīvaka flowers with thread, I offered to the Buddha the retinue of the Sikh world. 1996. Since I did that thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 1997. Formerly in the seventh life, I was a human lord of great fame named Samantacakkhu, a Wheel-turning King of great power. 1998. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six superior knowledge has been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Bandhujīvaka uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Bandhujīvaka is the first part. --ooOoo-- 152. Chronicles of Elder Tambapupphiya 1999. As someone who was busy taking care of other people's affairs, I did something wrong. Overwhelmed by fear and panic, I fled to the end of the forest. 2000. After seeing that the plant had bloomed, stuck in bunches, and skillfully displayed, I picked the red-brown flower and sprinkled it on the Bodhi tree. 2001. After sweeping the Bodhi tree which is the ultimate pāṭalī tree, I folded my legs into the full lotus position and sat down at the base of the Bodhi tree. 2002. While searching for the path (me) passed, they approached me. And there, after seeing them, I have observed the supreme Bodhi tree. 2003. And with a pure mind, I bowed down to the Bodhi tree. I fell in a terrifying canyon as deep as many palm trees. 2004. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-one lifetimes ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Bodhi tree. 2005. And before in my third life, I was King Susaññata, the Wheel-turning King, accomplished in the seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2006. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Tambapupphiya[26] uttered these verses like that. The World Leader is coming out like the rising sun, like the sun with its golden rays, like the moon on a full moon day. 2008. There were a total of sixty-eight thousand contraband (A-la-han) who accompanied the Fully Enlightened One, the Lord of mankind, the Human Bull. 2009. With a pure mind I swept that road, and while the World Leader was going out, I raised the flag there. 2010. (Since) I raised the flag ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of the flag. 2011. Previously in my fourth life, I was a king of great strength, accomplished in all respects, known as Sudhaja. 2012. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Vīthisammajjaka[27] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Vīthisammajjaka is the third part. --ooOoo-- 154. Chronicles of Elder Kakkārupūjaka 2013. While being the Son of God, I made offerings to the Sikh Leader. I took the kakkāru flower and offered it to the Buddha. 2014. (Since) I have offered the flower thirty-one lifetimes ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2015. And before in the ninth life, I was King Sattuttama, the Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, having great power. 2016. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kakkārupūjaka[28] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Kakkārupūjaka is the fourth part. --ooOoo-- 155. Chronicles of Elder Mandāravapūjaka 2017. While being the Son of God, I made offerings to the Sikh Leader. I took the mandārava flower and offered it to the Buddha. 2018. In seven days, there was a garland of heaven as a canopy for the Tathagata. All the people gathered and paid homage to the Tathagata. 2019. (Since) I made an offering of flowers thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2020. And before in my tenth life, I was King Jutindhara, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2021. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Mandāravapūjaka[29] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Mandāravapūjaka is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 156. Chronicles of Elder Kadambapupphiya 2022. Not far from Himalayas there is a mountain called Kukkuṭa. Those seven Paccekabuddhas reside at the foot of that mountain. 2023. After seeing the kadamba that had blossomed like the moon (king of lamps) had arisen, with both hands I had picked it and scattered it on the seven Buddhas. 2024. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2025. In the past, ninety-two lives, seven (same) names as Puppha were the Kings of the Wheels who achieved seven kinds of treasures with great majesty. 2026. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six victory have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kadambapupphiya[30] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Kadambapupphiya is the sixth part. --ooOoo-- 157. Chronicles of the Elder Tiṇasūlaka 2027. Not far from the Himalayas, there is a mountain named Bhūtagaṇa. In that place is the Conqueror, One who is independent, one who is detached from the world, dwells alone. 2028. I took the tiṇasūla flowers and offered them to the Buddha. I did not become one who fell into the lower realms for ninety-nine thousand kalpas. 2029. Eleven kalpas ago, I was the only Dharaṇīruha, the Wheel-turning-King who accomplished the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2030. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Tiṇasūlaka[31] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Tiṇasūlaka is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 158. Chronicles of the Elder Nāgapupphiya 2031. (I was) a Brahmin proficient in spells named Suvaccha who lived in the hills, accompanied by his disciples. . 2032. The Conqueror named Padumuttara, the recipient of offerings, intends to help me, He went to my hermitage. 2033. He (was) walking in the air, similarly He (was) spewing smoke, (was) shining. After realizing my joy, he went away, facing east. 2034. After seeing that wondrous miracle, I took the nāga flower and sprinkled it on the path (He) passed. 2035. (Since) I sprinkled flowers one hundred thousand kalpas ago, because of that pure faith in my mind I did not go to suffering. 2036. (Previously) three thousand and one hundred kalpas, I was the king of Maharatha, the Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2037. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Venerable Nāgapupphiya[32] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Nāgapupphiya is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 159. The Chronicles of the Elder Punnāgapupphiya 2038. After going deep into the jungle, I lived as a hunter. After seeing the punnāga tree in full bloom, I remembered the supreme Buddha. 2039. I have gathered that beautiful flower that gives off a sweet fragrance. After making the stupa in the sand, I offered it to the Buddha. 2040. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-two kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2041. (Previously) 91 kalpas, I was the only Tamonuda, the Wheel-turning-King who attained the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2042. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Punnāgapupphiya[33] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Punnāgapupphiya is the ninth part. --ooOoo-- 160. Chronicles of the Elder Kumudadāyaka 2043. Not far from the Himalayas there was a large natural lake, covered with red and blue lotuses, overflowing with flowers. white lotus. 2044. At that time, I was a bird called kukuttha, with virtue, achieved wisdom, knowledge of blessings and sins. 2045. The One Who Knows the World Padumuttara, the recipient of offerings, the Great Sage has passed away not far from a natural lake. 2046. I plucked the white water lily that grew in the water and offered it to the Great Hermit. Knowing my intention, the Great Sage accepted it. 2047. And having made that offering, motivated by the element of purity, I did not go to misery for a hundred thousand kalpas. 2048. 1600 lifetimes ago, These eight people rulers (with the same name) Varuṇa were the Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 2049. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kumudadāyaka[34] uttered these verses thus. After leaving the vast forest, the Lord of mankind, the Human Bull, the Right Eyed One named Paduma preached the Dharma. 2051. There was a meeting of the yakshas not far from the Great Hermit. Because of that work, the yakshas came and immediately considered. 2052. Recognizing the Buddha's words and the teaching of the Immortal, with a pure heart, with joy, I clapped my hands and served (Him). 2053. Look at the fruits of well-practiced service to the Master, I have not gone to a miserable state in thirty thousand kalpas. 2054. In the past, two thousand nine hundred kalpas ago, (I was) Samalaṅkata, the Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2055. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six victory have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Supāricariya uttered these verses thus. The Blessed One named Siddhattha, the Chief Elder of the world, the Human Niu, the leader of the Sravakas, walked in the city. 2057. I have been honored to be the watchman in the king's harem. I went near the castle and saw the Leader of the World. 2058. I have taken the flower kaṇavera and have sprinkled it in the Assembly of Bhikkhus. I did it many times at the Buddha, then scattered many more times. 2059. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of the flower offering. 2060. In the past eighty-seven kalpas, four (same) names Mahiddhika were the Wheel-turning Kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 2061. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kaṇaverapupphiya[35] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Kaṇaverapupphiya is the second part. --ooOoo-- 163. Chronicles of the Elder Khajjakadāyaka 2062. Previously, I certainly had offered fruit to the Blessed One Tissa. And I offered the coconut that was recognized as edible. 2063. After I had offered that fruit to the Buddha, the Great Hermit Tissa, I was glad that he had done the job as planned, I was reborn as I wished. 2064. Ever since I've offered alms ninety-two kalpas ago, I've no longer known suffering; this is the fruit of the fruit offering. 2065. Thirteen kalpas ago, I was King Indasama, a Wheel-turner, accomplished with seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2066. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six superior knowledge has been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. As for the Blessed One Atthadassī, the world's Chief Elder, the Human Bull, He flew into the sky and traveled by air. 2068. (Since) I have seen the Great Sage (before) one thousand eight hundred kalpas, I no longer know the suffering scene; this is the fruit of the offering of the area (the Buddha stood). 2070. (Formerly) one thousand one hundred kalpas, (I was) the one named Gosujāta, is a Wheel-turning King who has accomplished the seven kinds of treasures and has great power. 2071. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Fully Enlightened One Vessabhū, the world's Chief Elder, the Human Bull, the Wise One went deep into the great forest for a mid-day rest. 2073. At that time, I collected the flower kaṇikāra and made the umbrella. After making the flower canopy, I offered it to the Buddha. 2074. (Since) I have offered the flower thirty-one lifetimes ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2075. Twenty kalpas ago, eight slaying kings (with the same name) Soṇṇābha were Wheel-turning Kings who had accomplished seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2076. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kaṇikāracchadaniya[38] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Kaṇikāracchadaniya is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 166. Chronicles of Elder Sappidāyaka 2077. At that time, the Blessed One named Phussa, the recipient of offerings, the Hero, while helping the crowd to achieve Nirvana, He (was) walking on the road. 2078. In sequence, the Blessed One approached me. Therefore, I took the bowl and offered the liquid butter and cooking oil. 2079. Ever since I've offered melted butter ninety-two lifetimes ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of melted butter. 2080. In the past, 56 lives, I was the only Samodaka, the Wheel-turning-King who attained the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2081. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. I (was) moved downstream on the banks of the Candabhāgā river. I saw the Self-Master in that place, like the king sālā tree in full bloom. 2083. I took the yūthika flower and approached the Great Sage. With pure faith, with joy in mind, I offered it to the Buddha. 2084. Sixty-seven kalpas ago, I was a unique Samuddhara, a Wheel-turner, accomplished in the seven treasures, with great power. 2086. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Yūthikāpupphiya[40] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Yūthikāpupphiya is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 168. Chronicles of Elder Dussadāyaka 2087. At that time, I was the king's son in the lovely city of Tivarā. After receiving the gift, I offered it to An Tinh. 2088. The Buddha approved and touched the cloth with his hand. After approval, (Buddha) Siddhattha flew up into the air in the sky. 2089. While the Buddha was walking, the cloths ran after him. There I made my mind pure; Buddha is our great figure. 2090. Since I have offered the cloth ninety-four kalpas ago, I have no longer known suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of the cloth. 2091. Sixty-seven kalpas ago, at that time I was the Wheel-turning-King, the lord of mankind named Parisuddha, with great power. 2092. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Dussadāyaka[41] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Dussadāyaka is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 169. Chronicles of the Elder Samādapaka 2093. In the city of Bandhumatī, there was a large assembly of lay people. I was the elite among them, and they were my associates. 2094. After gathering all of them, I encouraged the meritorious work: “We will make a garland for the Congregation which is the supreme Phuoc Dien.” 2095. Following the force of my desire, they replied, “Very well,” and they completed the wreath. (I said): "Let us offer to (Buddha) Vipassī." 2096. Ever since I've offered garlands of flowers ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the garland offering. 2097. Fifty-nine kalpas ago, I was the only ruler of the people named Ādeyya, the mighty Wheel-turning-King. 2098. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The venerable thera Samādapaka uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Samādapaka is the ninth part. --ooOoo-- 170. Chronicles of the Elder Pañcaṅguliya 2099. The Blessed One named Tissa was the Elder of the world, the Human Bull. (I have seen) the sage, who is skilled in abiding (meditation), is entering the house. 2100. I took the fragrant garland and drew near to the Conqueror. Precisely not to disturb the Fully Enlightened One, I offered a handful of five fingers (flowers). 2101. (Since) I have offered incense ninety-two lifetimes ago, I no longer know the suffering scene; this is the fruit of a pinch of five fingers (flowers). 2102. Seventy-two kalpas ago, a king named Sayampabha was a Wheel-turning-King who attained seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2103. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior wisdom have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Pañcaṅguliya[42] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Pañcaṅguliya is the tenth part. --ooOoo-- Summary Taste of good service, taste of kaṇavera flower, taste of edible things, taste of regional offering, kaṇikāra flower, offering of melted butter, yūthika flower, taste of offering cloth, corolla, and a pinch of five fingers; (total) there are fifty-four verses. The Supāricariya is the seventeenth chapter. --ooOoo-- XVIII. KUMUDA PRODUCTS 171. Chronicles of the Elder Kumudamāliya 2104. In the Himalayas there was a large natural lake. As a demon that was born in that place, I had a terrifying appearance, and had great strength. 2105. The white water lily bloomed there. They are born the size of a wheel. I collected that flower, and had a meeting with the Power at that time. 2106. About the Blessed One Atthadassī, the Lord of mankind, the Human Bull, after seeing the flowers were gathered, he approached me. 2107. And when the Perfectly Enlightened One, the God of the Gods, the Man and the Bull, approached, I met him; I took the flower and offered it to the Buddha. 2108. By that time, that congregation had stretched to the ends of the Himalayas. The Tathagata went to have a full roof for the entire assembly. 2109. (Since) I have offered flowers (before) one thousand eight hundred kalpas, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2110. Fifteen kalpas ago, Those seven people rulers (with the same name) Sahassaratha were the Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 2111. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the Buddha's teaching. The Venerable Elder Kumudamāliya[43] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Kumudamāliya is the first part. --ooOoo-- 172. Chronicles of the Elder Nisseṇidāyaka 2112. I made the stairs to go up to the castle of the Blessed One Koṇḍañña, such an Elder of the world. 2113. Because of that pure faith in my mind, after enjoying success, I maintain my last life in the Dharma of the Perfectly Enlightened One. 2114. (Previously) thirty-one thousand kalpas, three kings (with the same name) Sambahula were the Wheel-turning Kings with great power. 2115. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Nisseṇidāyaka[44] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Nisseṇidāyaka is the second part. --ooOoo-- 173. Chronicles of Elder Rattipupphiya 2116. In the past, I was a wild animal hunter in the jungle. I have seen Buddha Vipassī, the God of the gods, the Man and the Bull. 2117. After seeing the medicinal herb rattika (night bloom) in full bloom, I harvested the flower with the stem and offered it to the Great Hermit. 2118. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the flower offering. 2119. And before in the eighth life, I was a king named Suppasanna, accomplished with the seven kinds of treasures, of great power. 2120. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior knowledge has been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Rattipupphiya[45] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Rattipupphiya is the third part. --ooOoo-- 174. Chronicles of the Elder Udapānadāyaka 2121. I made a well for the Blessed One Vipassī. And then, after offering alms food, I offered (the well) to him. 2122. Since I have done that work ninety-one kalpas ago, I have no longer known suffering; this is the fruit of the well. 2123. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Udapānadāyaka[46] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Udapānadāyaka is the fourth part. --ooOoo-- 175. Chronicles of the Elder Sīhāsanadāyaka 2124. When the Leader Padumuttara, the Protector of the World, passed into Nirvana, with a pure mind, with a joyful mind, I offered the lion throne. 2125. At that place, after making offerings with many fragrant things and garlands to him who is the source of peace in the present time, many people achieved Nirvana. 2126. After paying homage to the supreme Bodhi tree with a pure heart of faith and with joy, I did not go to a miserable state in a hundred thousand kalpas. 2127. (Previously) fifteen thousand kalpas, the eight kings (with the same name) Siluccaya were the Wheel-turning Kings. 2128. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Sīhāsanadāyaka[47] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Sīhāsanadāyaka is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 176. At the time of the Blessed One Vessabhū, I was a monastic assistant. With a pure mind, with a joyful mind, I have served the supreme Assembly. 2149. Since I had done that thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of service. 2150. Previously in the seventh life, it was the seven Samodakas (with the same name) that were the Wheel-turning Kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2151. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Saṅghupaṭṭhāka[50] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Saṅghupaṭṭhāka is the tenth part. --ooOoo-- Summary White water lily, then the one who has the stairs, the tree that blooms at night, the one who offers the water well, the one who has the lion throne, the one who scatters (the flower) on the road, there is a lamp, the one offering the pearl mani, the doctor, the one serving; (total) there are forty-nine verses. The Kumuda Chapter is the eighteenth chapter. --ooOoo-- XIX. KUṬAJAPUPPHIYA PRODUCT 181. Chronicles of the Elder Kuṭajapupphiya 2152. (I have seen) the Fully Enlightened One with golden skin as dazzling as the rising sun, observing the direction while moving in the air. 2153. After seeing that the kuṭaja tree has blossomed, has been spread horizontally and vertically, I plucked (the flower) from the tree and offered it to (the Buddha) Phussa. 2154. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-two kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2155. In the past, seventeen lives, seven (with the same name) Pupphita were the Kings who turned the wheel of kings, achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2156. Four (intellectual) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kuṭajapupphiya[51] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Kuṭajapupphiya is the first part. --ooOoo-- 182. Chronicles of the Elder Bandhujīvaka 2157. The Fully Enlightened One, the Autonomous One named Siddhattha is the one who has been praised by the virtuous. Accomplished in meditation, he sat in the hills. 2158. While searching for the ultimate flower growing in water at a natural lake, I saw bandhujīvaka flowers nearby. 2159. I have lifted (the flowers) with both hands and have come close to the Great Sage. With pure faith, with joy in mind, I offered (the Buddha) Siddhattha. 2160. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the flower offering. 2161. 14 lives ago, I was the sole ruler of the people, the King of Wheels named Samuddakappa with great power. 2162. Four (intellectual) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Bandhujīvaka[52] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Bandhujīvaka is the second part. --ooOoo--183. Chronicles of the Elder Koṭumbariya 2163. (I saw the Buddha Sikhī) sitting in the hills like a burning kaṇikāra tree, like an immeasurable sea, like a vast globe. 2164. Like a purebred bull, he is honored by the assembly of gods. I have become rejoicing, with a rejoicing mind I have come close to the Supreme Being. 2165. After taking out the seven flowers that had been covered with a fine cloth, I offered them to Buddha Sikhī, the retinue of the world. 2166. (Since) I have offered flowers thirty-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2167. Twenty kalpas ago, I was the only Wheel-turning-King with the name Mahānela, of great authority, of great power. 2168. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six superior knowledge has been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Koṭumbariya[53] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Koṭumbariya is the third part. --ooOoo-- 184. Chronicles of the Elder Pañcahatthiya 2169. The Blessed One named Tissa, the World's Most High, the Human Bull, walked on the road, accompanied by the sravakas. 2170. Five bouquets of lotus flowers and four more have been kept by me. Intending to offer an offering to accomplish merit, I picked up the (flowers). 2171. While the Fully Enlightened One, the Supreme Being, the one with bright yellow skin, was walking in the marketplace, illuminated by the light of the Buddha, I made an offering (flower) to him 2172. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-two kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2173. Thirteen kalpas ago, the five named Usabha were the Wheel-turning Kings who accomplished seven kinds of treasures, having great power. 2174. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Pañcahatthiya[54] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Pañcahatthiya is the fourth part. --ooOoo-- 185. Chronicles of Elder Isimuggadāyaka 2175. (I have seen) the Leader of the World is like the rising sun, like the sun with white rays, like the shining kakudha tree shining. 2176. I ground the peas in pure honey. While standing right at the castle, I made offerings to the relative of the world 2177. There were eight hundred thousand Sravakas of the Buddha present. That dish is filled with bowls of all tastes, but there is so much more to it. 2178. Because of that purity of mind in my mind, motivated by the element of purity, I did not fall into a miserable state for a hundred thousand kalpas. 2179. For forty thousand kalpas, those thirty-eight people had (with) the name Isimugga, they were Wheel-turning Kings of great power. 2180. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Isimuggadāyaka[55] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Isimuggadāyaka is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 186. Chronicles of the Elder Bodhi-upaṭṭhāka 2181. I was a drummer in Rammavatī city. Constantly busy with service work, I have come to the supreme Bodhi tree. 2182. Motivated by the element of purity, I have served morning and evening, I have not fallen into misery for one thousand eight hundred kalpas. 2183. A thousand and five hundred kalpas ago, I was the ruler of the people named Muraja, the mighty King of Wheels. 2184. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Bodhi-upaṭṭhāka[56] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Bodhi-upaṭṭhāka is the sixth part. --ooOoo-- 187. Chronicles of Elder Ekacintika 2185. When the Devas passed away from the group of gods due to the end of their lifespans, the Devas often happily uttered three words: 2186.” Hey friend, from here you go to a leisurely scene with human coexistence. Having a human being, attain supreme faith in the Dharma. 2187. May that faith of yours be established, rooted, firmly established in the well-proclaimed Dharma, and not wavered for the rest of his life.” 2188. “Do good deeds with your body, many good deeds with your mouth. Do good deeds with your mind, (which is) without suffering, without the germ of rebirth. 2189. Then do many good deeds that have the germ of that rebirth by giving. You should also guide other friends into the Dharma, into the holy life.” 2190. Due to this compassion, when knowing that the Deva is dying, the gods often say joyfully: "Go back to the city of gods again." 2191. At that time, when the assembly of the gods had gathered, there was a wavering in me that said: "Having death from here, which birth race will I go to?" 2192. After knowing my fluctuations, the recluse, whose senses had been trained, wanted to help me, so he went to see me. 2193. The Discourse of (Buddha) Padumuttara named Sumana. At that time, he taught the meaning and Dharma, and shocked me. 2194. After listening to his words, I made my mind pure in the Buddha. After paying homage to that wise man, I passed away in that place. 2195. Motivated by the element of purity, I was born in that very place, where I did not fall into misery for 100,000 lifetimes. 2196. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Ekacintika[57] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Ekacintika is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 188. Chronicles of the Elder Tikaṇṇipupphiya 2197. While being a celestial being, I was respected by fairies. I have remembered past karma, I have remembered the supreme Buddha. 2198. After taking out the tikaṇṇi flower, I purified my own mind and offered it to Buddha Vipassī, the Human Bull. 2199. (Since) I have offered the flower ninety-one kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2200. In the past 73 kalpas, four (same) names Ramuttama were the Wheel-turning Kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 2201. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Tikaṇṇipupphiya[58] uttered these verses like that. The record of the elder Tikaṇṇipupphiya is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 189. Chronicles of Elder Ekacāriya 2202. At that time, there was a loud sound in the gods in the Dao Loi heaven: "Buddha Nirvana was in the world, and we are still greedy. love." 2203. Those gods were aroused by the shock, was possessed by the arrow of sorrow. Supported by my own strength, I came close to the Buddha. 2204. I took the soft mandārava flower that was manifested, which I offered to the Buddha at the time of Nirvana. 2205. At that time, all the gods and fairies rejoiced with me. I have not fallen into a miserable state for a hundred thousand kalpas. 2206. Sixty thousand kalpas ago, sixteen people (with the same name) Mahā-mallajana were the Wheel-turning Kings with great power. 2207. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Ekacāriya[59] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Ekacāriya is the ninth part. --ooOoo-- 190. Chronicles of the Elder Tivaṇṭipupphiya 2208. Overpowered by (afflictions), all of them went together to see me and meditate. While they were meditating, anger arose. 2209. At that time, the person named Sunanda, the Voice of the Wise Buddha Dhammadassī, went to see me. 2210. At that time, those who had a life attached to me, those people offered flowers to me. I took that flower and offered it to the Sacred Man. 2211. I here passed away and was also reborn in that place again. I have not gone to the lower realms in one thousand eight hundred kalpas. 2212. In the past 1300 kalpas, eight (same) names Dhūmaketu were the Wheel-turning Kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 2213. Four (wisdom) analysis, ―nt― I have practiced the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Tivaṇṭipupphiya[60] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Tivaṇṭipupphiya is the tenth part. --ooOoo-- Summary The kuṭaja flower, the taste of the bandhujīva flower, the koṭumbara flower, the flower bouquet, the pea, the Bodhi tree, the one who thinks once, the person who has the tikaṇṇi flower, the one who has a times behaves, flowers tivaṇṭi; (total) sixty-two verses have been narrated. The Kuṭajapupphiya chapter is the nineteenth chapter. --ooOoo-- XX. PRODUCT TAMĀLAPUPPHIYA 191. Chronicles of the Elder Tamālapupphiya 2214. The castle with eighty-four thousand pillars made of gold was cleverly revealed to me, like (miracle by) the wish-fulfilling tree of the gods. 2215. With a pure mind, I took the tamāla flower and offered it to Buddha Sikhī who is a relative of the world. 2216. Since I had done that thirty-one eons ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2217. Twenty lifetimes ago, I alone (I) have the name Candatitta, the Wheel-turning King, accomplished in the seven treasures, with great power. 2218. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Tamālapupphiya[61] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Tamālapupphiya is the first part. --ooOoo-- 192. Chronicles of the Elder Tiṇasantharadāyaka 2219. The grass that the hermit living in the forest (had) cut for the Guru, all of which had fallen to the ground, leaning to the right. 2220. Then I took the grass and spread it on the highest part of the earth. And I brought back just three palm leaves. 2221. After making a grass roof, I made an offering to (Buddha) Siddhattha. The gods and humans maintained (the roof) for that Guru for seven days. 2222. Since I have offered grass ninety-four kalpas ago, I have no longer known suffering; this is the fruit of the offering of grass. 2223. Sixty-five kalpas ago, four (same) names as Mahaddhana were the Wheel-turning Kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 2224. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Thera Tiṇasantharadāyaka[62] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Tiṇasantharadāyaka is the second part. --ooOoo-- 193. Chronicles of the Elder Khaṇḍaphulliya 2225. At that time, the Buddha's stupa in the vast forest was demolished by elephants, there were trees growing in the place. that. 2226. Delighted with the virtues of the master of those three realms, I have leveled the protrusions and made an offering of powdered lime. 2227. Since I have done that work ninety-two kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of the lime block. 2228. (Previously) seventy-seven kalpas, sixteen (same) names Jitasena were the Wheel-turning Kings who accomplished seven kinds of treasures, having great power. 2229. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Khaṇḍaphulliya uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Khaṇḍaphulliya is the third part. --ooOoo-- 194. Chronicles of Elder Asokapūjaka 2230. At that time, in the lovely city of Tīvarā, there was a royal garden. In that place, I was a gardener, living closely with the king. 2231. The Autonomous One named Paduma was the one with the aura. When that sage sat in the white lotus tree, the shadow did not leave him. 2232. After seeing the asoka tree in full bloom, heavy in clusters, with a beautiful appearance, I offered it to the Buddha whose name was Padumuttara. 2233. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2234. Thirty-seven lives ago, sixteen (with the same name) Aruṇañjaha were the Wheel-turning Kings who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2235. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Venerable Asokapūjaka[63] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Asokapūjaka is the fourth part. --ooOoo-- 195. Chronicles of the Elder Aṅkolaka 2236. After seeing the aṅkola tree with its noble inflorescences covered in flowers, I picked the flower and went to see the Buddha. 2237. At that time, the great sage Siddhattha had hermitage. After paying my respects for a moment, I sprinkled flowers in the cave. 2238. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2239. Thirty-six kalpas ago, (I was) the only Devagajjita, the Wheel-turning King, accomplished with the seven treasures, with great power. 2240. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. Venerable Venerable Aṅkolaka[64] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Aṅkolaka is the fifth part. --ooOoo-- 196. Chronicles of the Elder Kisalayapūjaka 2241. I had a flower garden in the city of Dvāravatī. And there's a well right there that supplies (water) for the plants. 2242. Having compassion on me, the undefeatable Siddhattha, supported by his own powers, went up in the air. 2243. I do not see anything else worthy of offering to the Great Hermit. After seeing the asoka tree's bud, I threw it into the air. 2244. While the Buddha was moving, the shoots followed behind him. Here I am after seeing that miracle (praised): "Oh nobility of the Buddha!" 2245. (Since) I have raised the bud ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know the suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2246. Twenty-seven kalpas ago, I was the only Ekassara, the Wheel-turning-King who attained the seven kinds of treasures and possessed great power. 2247. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kisalayapūjaka[65] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Kisalayapūjaka is the sixth part. --ooOoo-- 197. Chronicles of the Elder Tindukadāyaka 2248. I was a strong and agile monkey, often wandering in the treacherous part of the mountain. After seeing the fruiting tinduka tree, I remembered the supreme Buddha. 2249. With a pure mind, with a joyful mind, I left (where I lived) for a few days and examined the World Leader Siddhattha, who had reached the end of the three realms. 2250. After learning of my intentions, the worldly Supreme Master, along with a thousand unscrupulous beings, approached me. 2251. After giving rise to excitement, I approached, having fruit in my hand. The Blessed One, the All-Knowing, the noble one among the preachers received it. 2252. Since I have offered fruit ninety-four kalpas ago, I have no longer known suffering; this is the fruit of the fruit offering. 2253. Fifty-seven kalpas ago, (I was) a person named Upananda, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great majesty. 2254. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberation, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Venerable Tindukadāyaka[66] uttered these verses thus. The record of the elder Tindukadāyaka is the seventh part. --ooOoo-- 198. Chronicles of Elder Muṭṭhipūjaka 2255. Out of compassion for posterity, the Blessed One named Sumedha, the Chief Elder of the world, the Human Bull, the Conqueror made his best efforts. 2256. While such a Sovereign of mankind was walking, I offered the Buddha a fistful of girinela flowers. 2257. Because of that pure faith in my mind, motivated by the element of purity, I did not fall into a miserable state for thirty thousand kalpas. 2258. In two thousand three hundred kalpas, I was a king-slayer named Sunela, the only person who achieved the seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2259. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Muṭṭhipūjaka[67] spoke these verses like that. The record of the elder Muṭṭhipūjaka is the eighth part. --ooOoo-- 199. Chronicles of the Elder Kiṅkaṇipupphiya 2260. The Sovereign named Sumaṅgala, the undefeated, the Conqueror has left the vast forest and entered the city. 2261. After practicing alms round, the sage left the city. Having done his duty, the Perfectly Enlightened One dwelt in the forest. 2262. With pure faith, with joy in mind, I took the kiṅkaṇi flower and offered it to the Buddha, the Self-Controlling One, the Great Hermit. 2263. (Since) I have offered flowers ninety-four kalpas ago, I no longer know suffering; this is the fruit of making offerings to the Buddha. 2264. In the past eighty-six lives, (I was) a person named Apilāpiya, a Wheel-turning King who achieved seven kinds of treasures, with great power. 2265. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Kiṅkaṇipupphiya[68] said these verses like that. The record of the elder Kiṅkaṇipupphiya is the ninth part. --ooOoo-- 200. Chronicles of the Elder Yūthikāpupphiya 2266. The Conqueror named Padumuttara, the recipient of the offerings, the Right Eyed One left the vast forest and went to the monastery. 2267. After taking the supreme yūthika flower with both hands, I offered it to the Buddha, who had such a loving heart. 2268. Because of that pure faith in my mind, I have enjoyed the accomplishment and have not been born in a miserable state for a hundred thousand kalpas. 2269. Fifty kalpas ago, I was the sole ruler of the people named Samittanandana, the mighty King of Wheels. 2270. Four (wisdom) analysis, eight liberations, and six winning positions have been (I) attained; I have been practicing the teachings of the Buddha. The Venerable Elder Yūthikāpupphiya[69] spoke these verses thus. The record of the elder Yūthikāpupphiya is the tenth part. --ooOoo-- Summary Taste with tamāla flower, carpet of grass, taste that discovers brokenness, taste related to asoka flower, taste with aṅkola flower, young shoot, tinduka fruit, flowers nela, who has a kiṅkaṇi flower, who has a yūthikā flower; (total) there are fifty-eight verses. The Tamālapupphiya product is the twentieth chapter. --ooOoo-- Now for the summaries of the titles of food offering, (who has) retinue, sereyya flower, elder Sobhita are similar, one who has canopy, bandhujīva flower, and always both the one with skillful service, the kumuda flower, the kuṭaja flower, and also the one with the tamāla flower was performed as the tenth.
